Nikolai Tikhonovich graduated from a nine-year school. In 1940, he entered Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute (now Voronezh State Pedagogical University).
After a nine-year school, Nikolai Tikhonovich was as a supernumerary and a circus worker in the Young Voronezh Theatre. Since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, he worked at the mechanical plant and later joined the militia. After being injured, Nikolai Tikhonovich worked at the machine tractor station and at the "Strojtekhsnab" on the Dzerzhinsky Tractor Factory restoration.
In 1945-1961 and in 1963-1971, Nikolai Tikhonovich worked for the newspaper "Kommuna". In 1971-1981, he held the position of Deputy Director of Interregional Propaganda Bureau of Fiction and Deputy of Literature Consultation (since 1981) at the Voronezh Writers Organization.
Nikolai Tikhonovich had been published since 1941 in the almanac "Literaturny Voronezh", in the journal "Podyom", "Znamya", and "Smena". Participant of All-Union Young Writers Meeting (Moscow, 1952).
