In 1960 Valery Martynov graduated from the geological department of the Voronezh State University.
After graduating, Valery Martynov worked as an engineer in geological survey expeditions, later - in the emergency service of the Voronezh Industrial Trust for the operation of supply facilities, then he worked at the plant "Electropribor" and in the printing house "Kommuna". During a variable period, he was the head of fiction advocacy office at the Voronezh Writers’ Organization and then the head of the Literary Fund Department of the RSFSR in Voronezh.
Author of several books and collections of poems: "Start" (1963), "Track" (1970), collections of stories: "Hello from Pestalozzi!" (1972), "Zero-four" ( Moscow, 1985), "My father is not like that!" (1988) and others. His books were published mainly in Voronezh.
