1902-1923 director, Kiev Museum of History. Studied archeological relics of various periods (Mount Knyazheskaya, Borisov Settlement, etc). Pioneered establishment of museums in Ukraine.
Wrote works on Ukraine ornamentation.

Member, Ukraine Academy of Sciences from 1919.
