1909 graduate Orenburg Junkers’ College.
1912 discharged from 5th Orenburg Cossack Regt for agitation against the government. During World War 1 reached rank of staff captain. 1916 wounded and returned home.
March 1917 fought for Soviets with a Cossack unit 1918 formed Cossack detachment at Verkhneural’sk to oppose troops of Ataman Dudov. From 16 July 1918 commander in chief, after being wounded deputy commander, Southern Ural Composite Partisan Detachment operating behind the lines of the White Army in the Southern Urals.
From September 1918, after induction into Red Army, deputy commander, then commander, 4th Ural (later 30th Rifle) Division. 1919 commandant, Orenburg Fortified Region. Commander, 49th Fortress Division, Turkestani Front.
1920 chairman, Orcnburg-Turgay Province Executive Committee. Commander, 3rd Cavalry Corps, Southern Front. Commander, Aleksandrov Group of Forces in campaign against Ataman Makhno.
1923-1925 commander, 14th Rifle Corps. Special duties for Red Army General Staff. Commander, 1st Red Cossack Cavalry Corps.
1925-1931 deputy commander, various military distribution 1931-1937 commander. North Caucasian Military district. From 1934 member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Military Councihjune 1937 member, SpccialTribunal of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Supreme Court in trial of Marshal Tukhachcvskiy and others, who were sentenced to death by firing squad.
