He graduated from Botanical Department of Tokyo University (1919). Studied for five years in Europe and America (1928-1933).
Ogura Yuzuru promoted to assistant professor (1927) and professor (since 1938). Awarded Japan Academy Prize (1946). Served as president of Japan Botanical Society. Books include Shokubutsu Keitaigaku (Botanical Morphology) and Shida Shokubutsii Eiyo Kilcan-no Hikaku Kaibo (A Comparative Dissection of Nutritive Organ of Pteridophyta) (in German).
