Paul Newman attended Dartmouth College, graduating in 1947.

Career

Paul S. Newman served as an enlisted man in a bomb disposal unit, and, later, as a first lieutenant special-services officer aboard troop transports during the Second World War. After the war, he started to write comics. Newman wrote DC Comics' teen-humor series A Date With Judy, based on the radio program. He wrote scripts for Avon Comics, Fawcett Comics, Hillman Periodicals, St. John Publications, Ziff Davis. Newman also worked as a staff writer, at Marvel Comics' two predecessor companies, Timely Comics and Atlas Comics.

Paul S. Newman wrote the teen-humor series Patsy Walker, Hedy Devine and Jeannie under editor-artist Al Jaffee. Newman wrote stories for such horror and mystery titles as Journey into Mystery and Marvel Tales. He created the Turok comic-book series. Together with Western Publishing editor, Matt Murphy, he created a character, Doctor Solar. Later Newman wrote the comic-book adaptation of the Beatles' animated feature Yellow Submarine. In the 1980s, he wrote comics for the DC Comics series G.I. Combat and House of Mystery.

Achievements

• Paul S. Newman is an American writer of comic strips, comic books and books who was famous for the Turok comic-book series. Newman was credited in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most prolific comic-book writer who published more than 4,100 stories.
  
  In 1998 Newman received the Inkpot Award for lifetime contribution to the Comic Book Field. He was nominated for the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1997. Newman's comics Turok became his longest-running assignment lasting for 26 years.
