For fifteen years Pauline worked as a High school teacher in Chicago, Illinois, United States. She is currently affiliated with Catalyst for Change in Santa Rosa, California. She is also the member of board of directors at Denver Free University.
Her first book, Grief Denied: A Vietnam Widow 's Story, was born out of a need to tell the truth about a secret she'd kept for twenty-five years.
Her writing has been influenced by feminist theory, Jungian psychology, twelve-step recovery work, vipassana meditation, and Buddhist teachings. The tools and information available in these disciplines have helped her piece her life back together and integrate the loss of her husband.
