Say’s successor in the chair at the Collège de France and a member of the school which dominated the chief journals and institutions of economic life in France throughout the nineteenth century. His economics was the conventional Ricardianism of his day but the Cours. achieved considerable success. His varied academic and political career ended in assassination in Rome.
