He entered the Soviet space programme on July 5, 1967 and was commander of three missions as well as pilot. He retired on June 23, 1984. Military rank: Major General, Soviet Air Force. Time in Space 216 days 9 hours, 8 minutes. Missions: Soyuz 25, Soyuz 29 and Soyuz T-4. Graduated fom Higher Air Force School Monino, 1976; Doctorate of Military Sciences degree; Director of Moscow Zhukovski Military Air Force Engineering Academy; hobbies: Skiing, hunting, photography; he was withdrawn from all military duties, when he became 60 years old; he is now General Airforce Reserve and consultant.
