After leaving the Conservatoire, entered as a member of the Vienna Court orchestra. A 2nd violin of the famous Hellmesberger (his teacher’s) quartet. Toured in Russia, 1870-1874.
Teacher at the Moscow Conservatoire, 1874-1878. Conductor of the Kiev Symphony Society, 187S-80. Toured in Austria, Germany, and England, 1880-1883.
London, appeared as soloist of the Richter Concerts in 1882 and 1883. H ead Professor at the Leipzig Conservatoire, where he formed his famous Brodsky quartet, 1883-1891. Toured in America (United States) and Canada, 1891-1894. Victoria University; Principal Royal Manchester College, of Music since 1895.
