MÜLLER, Adam Heinrich was born in 1779 in Berlin, Germany.
German Catholic economist of the Romantic school, who rejected the individuality and emphasis on material values of contemporary political economy. He was closely associated with Metternich and the reactionary politics of the post-Napoleonic period. He favoured an organic view of society in which the State would act to unite all social elements.
The implications of this were nationalist and protectionist.
He had some influence on the Historical School and inspired Spann’s ‘universalism’. Tutor, Prince Bernhard of Saxe-Weimar, Dresden, 1806-1809.
Civil servant, Austria, 1813.
