In 1973 Peter received Bachelor of Science at Veszprém University in Hungary, and then got Master of Science in Applied Mathematics there in 1975. Finally, he earned Doctor of Philosophy at Novosibirsk Institute for Catalysis in 1981.
Peter Valko started his academical career as an assistant professor at Eotvos L. University in Budapest in 1975. Later he took the position of an associate professor there until 1989. After that Peter worked at Hungarian Oil Co. as a research scientist during 1989 - 1991. And then he served at Lfoben Mining University at Austria as an associate professor in 1981 - 1989. Finally, Valko settled at Texas A&M University, College Station, where he is an associate professor of petroleum engineering since 1993.
