And The Queen"s College, Oxford, where he obtained a First in Chemistry, followed by a Doctorate.Phil as a Junior Research Fellow at Merton, working with Jack Linnett.
1940-1945 Joined the Royal Artillery as Bombardier. Captured at the fall of Singapore, prisoner-of-war interned in Malaya. 1946 Returned to Oxford as undergraduate
