Qikeng Lu was vborn on May 17, 1927 in Foshan, Guangdong, China.
Since 1951 Qikeng Lu worked in Institute of Mathematics, Academia Sinica. He was promoted step by step from an assistant, assistant professor, associate professor to a full professor in 1977.
Qikeng Lu was elected Member of Academia Sinica (later it was called the academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences) in 1980. From 1980 to 1983 he was the Deputy Director of the Institute of Mathematics and was entrusted by Director I. K. Hua to run the Institute. So Qikeng Lu could (for the purpose to modernize the mathematics in China) invite numerous young and distinguished Chinese born mathematicians, such as H. Wu, S. T. Yau, Y. T. Siu, S. Y. Cheng etc., and some famous professors in the world, such as Borel, Griffiths, Hirzebruch, Grauert, Carleson, Vesentini Vladimirov, etc., to visit China and give series of lectures, from which many young Chinese mathematician got profit.
