Rak-Hyun was born in 1961 in Republic of Korea.
Rak-Hyun studied at Pusan National University in Pusan, Republic of Korea. In 1984 he became a Bachelor of Science. In two year he was a student of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Daejeon and Seoul, South Korea. He received a degree of the Master of Science. In 1989 Rak-Hyun became a Doctor of Philosophy.
Rak-Hyun Song is a leader of solid oxide fuel cell in Korea. He had studied at KAIST for 6 years for MS and Ph.D. degrees. In 1990 he became a principal researcher at the Korea Institute of Energy Research in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. In 1994 he became a visiting scientist at the National Institute Materials and Chemical Research in Tsukuba, Japan. He worked there for a year. In 1995 he became a SOFC project leader of the Korea Institute of Energy Research in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. In 2004 he was a director of the Technical Korean Electrochemical Society. Also in this he became a publication director and vice president of the Korean Hydrogen and New Energy Society. From 2006 to 2007 he worked as a visiting scholar at the South Carolina University in the United States.
Rak-Hyun married to Yeong-Ok Oh. They have two children: Chan-Hee, Seo-Yeong.
