Ralph W. Andrews

Ralph W. Andrews was born on January 12, 1897 in Denver, Colorado.

Education

Andrews attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Career

Since 1955 Andrews was as a copy-writer and author. Prior to that he was an account executive with advertising agencies in Los Angeles and in Seattle, Washington (1925-1941, 1950-1955).

From 1941 to 1945 he was a civilian employee of the U.S. Army-a port historian-in Seattle. A trustee and former president of the Friends of Seattle Public Library, he was also a member of the Jefferson Park Lawn and Sailing Club.

The Seattle Historical Society gave him their annual award in 1955 for the best book by a Seattle author, and he received the Governor's Certificate of Recognition in 1966. His books on western photography have also covered seafaring, commercial fishing and Indians.
