Flick received his BA from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada (1967), and his MA and MFA (1970, 1971) from University of California, Los Angeles.
From 1976 to 1978 Flick taught photography at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, as assistant professor, and an associate professor of art. He previously taught at the University of Illinois (1971-76), as instructor until 1973 and then as assistant professor.
Some of his series of photographs have been entitled "L.A. Diary," "Midwest Diary," "Wall Series" and "Inglewood Diary."
Flick belongs to SPE, CAA, the Graphic Arts Council in Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Center for Photographic Studies. He was named a fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies of the University of Illinois in 1973.
