Rodney Stuart earned a Bachelor of Arts in Photography (1972) and a Master of Arts in Arts Administration (1976) from San Francisco State University.
Since 1976 Rodney Stuart has owned and directed PhosGraPhos, an art consulting company. He was a curator for the Silver Image Gallery, Seattle, Washington, in 1977 and a curator for Friends of Photography, Carmel, California, in 1974-1976. Rodney Stuart directed the Cultural Arts programs for San Francisco State University in 1970-1973. As a curator, he specializes in nineteenth- and twentieth-century photographers of the Northwest and twentieth-century West Coast contemporary trends.
A member of SPE since 1975, the photographer was a founding member of the Photography Council of the Seattle Art Museum in 1977 and its program chairman in 1979.
