In 1956 Romuald Klim graduated from the Belarusian Institute of Physical Culture.
Romuald Klim competed for the USSR in the 1964 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan in the hammer throw where he won the gold medal. He returned four years in the 1968 Summer Olympics held in Mexico City, Mexico and nearly defended his title, being beaten only by Hungarian Gyula Zsivotzky who had won the previous two silver medals.
