Career
Rotter worked as a dentist and raised his family in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He retired from dentistry in 1987 and moved into a large studio where he also had his museum. He created over 15,000 pieces of art, mostly sculpture, which he housed in a rented warehouse.
His work is in the collections of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and the American Visionary Art Museum.
