Ryoji Watanuki was born in 1894 in Chiba, Japan.
Ryoji Watanuki graduated from Law & Literature Department of Tohoku University (1912) and then from Hiroshima Higher Normal School (1918).
Ryoji Watanuki served first with Mainichi Shimbun (newspaper) and then transferred to Yomiuri Shimbun (newspaper) (1933) and became chief of its Printing Office (1942) and chief of Welfare Bureau and Planning Bureau. He became president of Nagasaki Nichinichi Shimbun (1947). The same year was purged. Founded and became president of Naigai Printing Company (1948). Reinstated as president of Nagasaki Nichinichi Shimbun (1951). Appointed director of Radio Nagasaki Broadcasting Company (1953).
