Under the pressure of Sakihisa Konoe Ryosa was urged to become a bibliographer and took to himself the name of Ryosa Kohitsu and was appointed an adviser on manuscripts to the Emperor. He was later rewarded with a gold seal and allowed to found a family. His descendants followed his profession right up to the Meiji Era (1868). Subsequent research, however, makes the accuracy of his work rather doubtful.
