Ryozo Takeda was born in 1898 in Chiba, Japan.
He graduated from Philosophy Department of Waseda University in 1925.
Ryozo Takeda entered Fuzanbo Publishing Company and engaged in editing of Nihon Katei Hyakka-jiten (Japan Home Encyclopedia) and Kokumin Hyakka-jiten (People's Encyclopedia). Meantime he organized Shakaigaku Kenkyu-kai (Sociological Research Institute) with Kiyoshi Miki, Ikutaro Shimizu and others.
He etablished Tokyo Shakai Kagaku Kenkyujo (Tokyo Social Science Research Institute), from which organization he published several books including Shakaigaku (Sociology) and Gendai-no Shakaigaku (Modern Sociology). Later he served at Research Department of Foreign Mimstry.
He became lecturer in 1940 and then professor of Dai-ichi Waseda Kato Gakum (1st Higher Institute of Waseda University) and lecturer and then professor of Literature Department of the same university since 1948.
He held additional posts of director of Nihon Shakaigakukai (Japan Sociological Society) and managing director of Sociological Society. Other works include Shakaigaku-no Koza (The Structure of Sociology).
