Kong S. T. attended Tianjin University (Peiyang University), Tianjin (Tientsin), 1895-1900, and attended the University of California from which be received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1905. Also he attended Columbia University, New York, from 1905 to 1907 receiving his Master of Arts degree. Upon his return to China he took the Imperial Examinations and received his doctor's degree in engineering.
Kong S. T. was a mining and metallurgical engineer in the Hunan Provincial Government from 1907 to 1909. He also was a chief engineer for the lead and silver smelting works of the Hunan Government during the years 1909 to 1912. Mr, Kong served as a chief engineer for the Canton Government analytical laboratory and chemical department in 1912-1913.
He held the post of a chief engineer for the Hubei (Hupeh) Government antimony smelting works between 1915 and 1918. Kong S. T. worked as a manager of the Hankou (Hankow) office of the National Commercial and Savings Bank of Hong Kong in 1924-1929 and he also was a chairman of the board of the Wu-Han Y.M.C.A. in 1920.
