Career
Hiti was able to self-publish Tiempos Finales due to a Xeric Foundation grant. Tiempos Finales was published in French in 2007 by Les Humanoïdes Associéson The book has been optioned to become a motion picture through Focus Features.
Hiti"s other works include the sketchbooks Ghoulash 1 and 2.
Many of Hiti"s illustrations draw on Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns and the Rambo series of films. His unique drawing style employs thick brushstrokes and drybrushing.
Among fans of Hiti"s work is Hellboy creator Mike Mignola. Sam Hiti also illustrated the comics adaptation of the film Lemony Snicket"s A Series of Unfortunate Events for a special edition of Nickelodeon magazine.
Hiti"s series Death-Day launched as a webcomic on October 31, 2009.
In 2015, Hiti decided to stop producing comics entirely for unclear reasons. An animator on the bonus features section of the Digital Video Disc of the film A Scanner Darkly is seen using "Tiempos Finales" as a reference while the narrator talks about style influences.
