During World War II his book Tatta Hitori-no-Yama (Mountain of Only One Man) was banned by the government for its inclination toward individualism. Samitaro Uramatsu wrote reviews on literature, social affairs and movies.
Other books include "Agriculture and Industry in China." He also wrote a complimentary review in the Japan Quarterly, a division of a leading newspaper.
