She attended Bedales School, the Camberwell School of Art and Middlesex Polytechnic (Middlesex University since 1992) and is a professional painter, represented by the Redfern Gallery.
She is the only niece of Queen Elizabeth II and the youngest grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth the Queen mother. She is also Vice President of the Royal Ballet, an appointment she accepted in 2004, following the example of her mother, who was also a patron of the Royal Ballet. Their mother interfered very little in their professional and personal lives.
