From 1912 associate, Saint St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy. 1917 defended doctor’s thesis on cholesterol diathesis. Specialized in metabolism, endocrinology and gerontology.
1911-1912 contributed to knowledge of the pathology of lipoid metabolism with his research on the reaction of the liver to various edible fats. 1912-1913 established the role of cholesterol in a number of pathological processes during research on the origin and properties of liquid crystals in animals - a pioneer project in the study of the pathology of cholesterol metabolism. Demonstrated the role of brain damage in the origin of lipoidemia.
1922-1929 head, Chair of General Pathology, 1st Leningrad Medical Institute. 1929-1947 head, Chair of Pathological Physiology, 1st Moscow Medical Institute. 1947-1950 head of an experimental laboratory, Centr Oncological Institute.
1950-1951 head, Pathophysiological Laboratory, Centr Skin and Venerological Institute. Also did extensive research on the hormonal properties of the fetal membrane. Wrote 70 works, including eight monographs and three textbooks on pathological physiology.
Helped to reorganize chairs of general pathology’ into chairs of pathophysiology.
