He graduated from the Moscow State International Relations Institute of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1973) at the Advanced Training Faculty at the Russian Foreign Ministry Diplomatic Academy (2002). He speaks Arabic, French, and English.
Since 1973 he held leading positions in the central administration of the USSR Foreign Ministry and abroad. Over a period of 1993-1995 he was the Department of the Middle East and North Africa Deputy Director.
In 1996-2000 he was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Libya. Since January 2001 he was Department of the Middle East and North Africa Deputy Director. On May 7, 2004, appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Lebanese Republic.
He has the diplomatic rank of the Minister Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the 1st class.
