(During the 1980s and early 1990s, Australia and New Zeala...)
During the 1980s and early 1990s, Australia and New Zealand extensively deregulated their economies to create two of the most open markets in the industrialized world. Drawing on interviews with more than 180 leading policymakers in Australia and New Zealand - including former prime ministers, ministers of finance, treasurers, and public servants - Shaun Goldfinch analyzes the factors that made the deregulation process different in each country.

Information and the technology that supports its collection, communication, and analysis is a core concern of modern government, making e-government (meaning electronically enabled government) fundamental to the ongoing "reinvention" of public administration. This book is written for a general audience and takes a critical look at policies, problems, and prospects for e-government in a series of case studies.

(Exploring New Zealand's most important and extensive rela...)
Exploring New Zealand's most important and extensive relationship - with Australia - on a variety of levels, this wide-ranging, fresh analysis focuses on trans-Tasman communities largely ignored by national histories. The narrative concentrates on 20th-century relations in a working region defined by a history of traffic in ideas, policies, objects, and people between the two countries. From early maps of Australasia to accounts of a shared business world and sports bonds, a common past is unearthed and reordered in a history filled with wit and insight.
