Shigenori Itakura was born in 1617, he was the eldest son of Shigemasa Itakura.
Shigenori Itakura joined his father in the attack on Shimabara Castle (1637). When his father was killed in action, he fought bravely and destroyed the enemy. Shigenori Itakura was appointed minister to Shogunate (1665) and then Governor of Kyoto (1668).
Shigenori Itakura was simple and serious by nature and studied Confucianism under Banzan Kumazawa.
