Okada Shinichiro graduated from the Architecture Section, Tokyo University, and was appointed professor at the Tokyo Fine Arts School and Waseda University. Studied especially classic architecture.
Okada taught at Waseda University and Tokyo School of Fine Arts, and fostered numerous young architects. Okada was a master of Western architectural design. He also produced work in the Imperial Crown style (Teikanyoshiki), such as the Biwako Otsukan in Yanagasaki Lakeside Park, Shiga Prefecture.
Despite his bad health, he was responsible for many noted buildings including the Tokyo Prefectural Art Galleries, Kabukiza Theater, Itoya Store, Toraya Confectionery Store and others, in which were combined Western and Japanese traits. He was an authority on architectural decoration.
