Education
Graduated from Tokyo University (1882), and was immediately sent to Germany to study sound enharmonics under Helmholz and Du Bois Reymond.
Career
He remained in Germany for 18 years and upon his return was appointed professor at Tokyo University, then became adviser to the Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Company and a director of Tokyo Music Association.
