So Sadashige was born in Japan. He was the son of Yoshishige.
Up to the time of his father, the Lord of Tsushima had lived at Munekata in Chikuzen (Fukuoka Prefecture) and visited the island once a year only. Because the island became troubled in Sadashige's time, he moved to the island to live there permanently. At the time many Tsushima islanders harassed the Korean coast as pirates.
The Ri Dynasty, which had overthrown the Кorаі Dynasty, sought friendship with the So family and promised many advantages. Sadashige ordered the islanders not to victimize Koreans and friendly relations were opened between Tsushima and Korea.
After Sadashige's death (1418), however, Japanese pirates again harassed Korea, resulting in the Korean attack on Tsushima (1419).
