Sozo Komachiya studied at the Tokyo University, which he graduated from in 1917.
After graduating from Tokyo University was appointed a judge at Tokyo District Court (1919). Resigned to proceed to Europe and America for further studies (1921). Returning home was appointed instructor first at Hosei and then at Chuo University (1924). Sozo Komachiya was conferred a doctorate (1929) and became a professor at Tohoku University.
