Born in Columbus, Ohio, Brooks was best known as Special Agent Jim Rhodes in the television series The Federal Bureau of Investigation, and his guest appearance as Ensign Garrovick in the classic Star Trek episode "Obsession". Sisters, Stephanie Keeley and Christie Weigel are still alive.
