Stephen Barlow Jareckie worked as an installation assistant (1955-1960) and education assistant (1960-1961) at Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute, Utica, New York. Then he worked as a registrar (1961-1983), associate in photography (1962-1969); associate curator photography (1969-1973); curator photography (1973-1994); curator of photography emeritus (since 1995) at Worcester Art Museum. After that, since 1996 he has been working as a photo advisory at Fitchburg (Massachusetts) Art Museum.
Stephen Jareckie married Gretchen Kinsman Fillmore on August 10, 1959.
