Sylvia Sunderlin was born on September 22, 1911, in Lakeside, Montana, United States.
Sunderlin served with the Association for Childhood Education International in Washington, as an assistant editor from 1964 to 1966, rising to the rank of consulting associate editor by 1970. In 1973 she joined the American Association for Gifted Children in New York City as an editor and staff associate.
Sunderlin began writing a monthly column called “Address Book” about antiques for House Beautiful Magazine in 1976. She also worked as an antiques appraiser in Washington’s Christ Child Shop. Sunderlin was the author of the children’s book Antrim’s Orange and contributed to other magazines such as Modern Maturity and Country Home.
