He graduated from Oberlin College with B.A. degree and Columbia University with Ph.D. degree.
Ting-fu Chiang worked as professor of History in Nankai University in Tientsin, China (Tianjin, China) from 1923 till 1929 and head of the Department of History of singhua University in Peiping, China.
He visited Russia and Europe in 1934 to study Sino-Russian relations.
He also took position of managing editor of the Chinese Social and Political Science Review.
