Tadatsune Nitta was born in Izu (Shizuoka Preiecture) during the early Kamakura Period and also known as Nitan-no-Shiro.

Tadatsune is also known for waylaying Sukenari, one of the Soga brothers. Later he was ordered by Shogun Yoriie to destroy Tokimasa Rojo, but the latter colluding with Yoshimori Wada managed to survive the attack and shortly after Tadatsune was killed by Kagekado Kato. He sided with Yoritomo Minamoto in the latter's fight with the Heike family and followed the punitive expedition to Oshii, north Japan (1185).
