Tamara Mikhailovna Tkachenka is a Belarusian physicist and materials researcher whose work has focused on Mössbauer spectroscopy, magnetic and structural properties of intermetallic compounds, antimonides, semiconductor materials, and magnetocaloric alloys. She has worked at Belarusian materials-science institutions and has also taught materials science and electrical engineering at the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University.
Background
Tamara Mikhailovna Tkachenka was born in Brest, Belarus, in 1958. Her professional work has been associated with Belarusian scientific and higher-education institutions in Minsk, where she developed a career combining experimental physics, materials research, and university teaching.
Education
Tkachenka studied at Belorussian State University, completing a Master's degree in 1979. She subsequently pursued advanced training in physics and received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1992. Her later academic work has remained closely connected with condensed-matter physics, materials science, semiconductor materials, magnetic alloys, and Mössbauer spectroscopy.
Career
Tkachenka began her professional career in 1979 as a senior scientist at the Scientific-Practical Materials Research Center in Belarus. Her research has included Mössbauer investigations of iron- and tin-containing compounds, magnetic and structural studies of manganese antimonides and phosphide-arsenide solid solutions, research on MnNiGe-based alloys, and investigations of semiconductor and magnetic materials. Her published studies have examined local atomic environments, hyperfine interactions, phase transitions, magnetization, magnetic ordering, and the effects of elemental substitution on crystal structure and magnetic properties. In later work she became associated with the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University, where she has served as an associate professor and contributed to the teaching of physics, materials science, electrical materials, and structural materials. She has also participated in the preparation of university teaching materials and laboratory manuals for engineering students.
