Tameyo no Fujiwara was born in 1250. He was the son of Tameuji.

He was appointed Gon Dainagon (high Court secretary). Belonging to the Nijo family, he wrote Waka Teikinsho, a book on waka versification, thereby estabablishing the conservative school of poetry of the Nijo family. Tamekane of the Kyogoku family was unconstrained by conventions in his poetry. Those two branch families of the Fujiwaras were rivals in poetry.
