Education
After graduating from Tokyo University (1913), continued research in geography and topography for which he was conferred a doctorate.
Career
His work entitled "Topography" which was published in 1920 earned him world fame. He was professor at Tokyo Higher Normal School and at Tokyo University (1944-1951), was emeritus professor (since 1951). President of Japan Geographical Society.
