Review I admire Godbey's relentless mining of experience, which might be termed confessional but seems too narrow a definition for the sheer pleasure Godbey's personas reap from their many escapades. No matter the disappointment or the surprise, there is always an excitement in the language that buoys the moment. One of the strengths of this prize-winning collection is that, whatever the terms, life will enter you. In her closing poem "Night," Godbey urges: Let the night consume you, the pale moon like the only man you will ever love, dancing alone every midnight, the stars smoothing their white skirts, waiting.
