He joined the staff of the Jiji Shimpo (newspaper). He worked with that paper for 28 years, during which time he became known as a leading journalist. He was head of its political department and then a member of its executive board. After leaving the Jiji Shimpo, he became a guest writer of the Tokyo Nichinichi. When he was head of the political department of the Jiji Shimpo (1909), the paper alone supported the Isshinkai Society's movement for the annexation of Korea, although all other papers opposed it fiercely.
