"Christianity and Humanism" is the engrossing story of the Christian faith and its implications for modern humanity. In this new study, McCarthy widens the focus of his earlier work, "The Catholic Tradition: Before and After Vatican II, 1878-1993" . He traces Hebrew and Christian biblical root-stories, from which Christianity has branched out and been embraced in both hemispheres during the past two thousand years. With this foundation, the author explores the hope of ecumenism, the promise of liberation theology and the challenge and mission of Christian humanism.
