At eleven years of age was named professor of the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome, and member of Philharmonic Society, Florence, Turin, and others Gave his first concert, 28 September 1846, and afterwards made several tours in Italy.
Concerts in France and in England, return.ng to Italy 1853 (when he played before Pope Pio IX. and received a gold medal from his hands), where he studied harmony; again in France and Germany, and in 1863 finally settled in London, giving concerts in all parts of the kingdom.
Organised and conducted a season of Italian opera at the Lyceum Theatre in 1870.
