Tohei Takakura was born in 1804 in Osaka, Japan.
Tohei Takakura tried speculating in cotton, but failed. Later became a stock broker, but went bankrupt. Became a broker in the rice exchange and a stock broker (1903).
Amassed a considerable fortune during the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905).
Appointed director of Rice Exchange of Dojima, Osaka (1907). Also served as president of Naniwa Fire Insurance, Yurin Life Insurance and Kitahama Bank.
