In 1912 Tse-Chien Tai graduated from St. John's University, Shanghai and got Bachelor og Arts degree.
In 1918 he became Bachelor of Library Science in New York State Library School, Albany.
In 1925 Mr. Tai gaduated from University of Iowa, Iowa with A Doctor of Philosophy degree.
From 1909 till 1914 Tse-Chien Tai worked as a librarian at St. John's University. Then from 1918 till 1919 as an assistant librarian at Camp Upton Library, N.Y.
In 1928 he became a director of National Central University Library, Nanking, China. From May 1929 till July 1930 he was a vice-Chancellor of National Central University, Nanking, China.
Mr. Tai also took a post of a chief of Personnal Department of the Bank of China from 1931 till 1934.
