According to the painter, the characters of his works are "ordinary people", who didn't read Hegel and Kant. His characters are people with pure heart, who weren't born to be entrepreneurs, but have a strong desire to be happy. The plot of his works often incorporates the painter's memories of childhood and adolescence, nostalgic motifs and details of the life of the Soviet era.
Valentin is an honorary member of the Art Association "Masterpiece" in Germany.
According to the painter, his artistic "way" began in his childhood, when he copied pictures of Russian artists from postcards. When he was a third-year student of an art school, he discovered the works of Jackson Pollock, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh and Henri Matisse. Also, it was at that time, that Valentin turned to still lifes and started to develop his own style.
